Chanar Payesh

Indian cottage cheese is called chana in Bengali and it is widely used to make yummy melt in mouth Bengali sweets. Today I am sharing with you a very delicious to make quick Bengali dessert recipe. Payesh in Bengali is type of Kheer .The term Kheer (used in North India) may derive from Sanskrit words Ksheeram (which means milk). Other terms like Payasa or Payasam (used in South India) or payesh (used in Bengal region) are derived from the Sanskrit word Payasa or Payasam which also means "milk". I am sure you will love to substitute your regular payesh with this delicious chanar payesh. Enjoy a sweet treat.

Preparation time : 15 minutes 
Cooking time : 20 minutes
Serves : 4

Ingredients : 
1 cup Indian cottgae cheese (home made)
1 tsp khoya / milk solid ( optional) 
3 cup milk 
½ cup condensed milk 
½  tsp saffron 
¼  tsp green cardamom powder
a small pinch
sugar to taste 

Methods of Cooking : 
Make cottage cheese at home. Boil 3 cup milk till it become 2 cups and then add condensed milk and khoya. Add sugar if you need more sweetness. Mix well. Then add crumbled cottage cheese, cardamom powder and saffron. Boil for another five minutes in medium flame, stir with smooth hand. Put off the flame. Serve chilled.

Paneer posto is a delicious creamy dish. Posto in Bengali means paste of poppy seeds which is cooked with veggies , fish and even chicken or just taken raw with mustard oil and hot steamed rice. Today I used that concept of Bengali posto but to it add some ingredients to give it a royal touch. The dish looks very rich but it is not that heavy and not loaded with too much of calories but a simple fast to cook easy delicious dish.
