Mulor Saag/ Fried Gaint Radish Greens


Mulo in Bengali is also known as mooli in hindi, is a familiar loved vegetable in India. Mooli's greens are also very tasty and it is prepared in various ways. In Bengali cuisine it is prepared with very simple spices so that the taste of the greens remain intact and when mung dal is added with it, it not only become more delicious but healthy too. In Bengal saag is mainly served as a starter in a whole spread lunch. I hope you all will like this delicious Bengali style mulor saag/ fried gaint radish greens.


Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 to 20 minutes
Serves : 4 

Ingredients: 
2 bunch mulor saag/ radish greens finely chopped
¼  cup yellow splited mung daal 
1 whole red chilly broken into halves
4 green chilly chopped
½  tsp turmeric  powder
2 pinch of sugar
5 to 6 tbsp mustard oil
salt to taste 

Methods of Cooking
Wash and clean the radish green well. Wash the mung dal well. Now take 2 cup water and take the mung dal and radish green and pressure cook for just one whistle so that the saag and dal both get soft. Strain  and drain the excess water. Make sure that the mung dal don’t be so soft that it is mushy. Now heat oil in a pan. Add the whole red chilly. Then add the cooked saag and dal. Add turmeric powder, salt and sugar and chopped green chilly. Now fry the whole mixture well till you get a well fried texture. Serve with hot steamed rice.
