Fish Lemony


Fish lemony is a very refreshing soup type fish preparation cooked in Bengali style. I have used rohu fish for this recipe you can use any white meaty fish. I am sure you will love this simple lemony flavored fish recipe.


Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves : 4 to 5

Ingredients :
4 to 5 big steak size rohu fish/ salmon fish
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin paste
1tsp green chilly paste or to taste
2 tbsp tomato paste
4  whole green chilly
½  tsp kalojeera/ kalonji/nigella seed
4 to 6  lemon leaves
1 tsp lemon rind 
2 tsp lemon juice
¼  cup mustard oil
salt to taste



Methods of Cooking:
 Marinate fish steaks with salt and turmeric. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the fish till brown in both side but make sure it stay soft not tough and chewy. Keep aside the fried fish. In that oil give nigella seed. As it start to splutter then add the chilly paste, cumin paste and tomato paste. Fry the masala in such way so that oil comes out from the masala. Now add 2 to 3 cup warm water. Let it come to boil . Then add the fried fish and salt. Let it come to boil. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Then add lemon leaves , green chilly, lemon rind and lemon juice. Put off the flame and cover with a lid and give 8 to 10 minutes standing time. Now discard the lemon leaves and serve with hot rice.
