Masala Aloo/ Spicy potato


Potato as we all know is loved by all. But sometime to get different but delicious potato recipe is not an easy task. Few days back I was watching Master Chef Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor food show where he shared this delicious recipe. The recipe itself is irresistible. So I recreated it in my kitchen and it turned out awesome. Sharing with you all Master’s recipe with my touch. Hope you all will love this flavorful crunchy spice packed potato recipe. This Diwali with fireworks enjoy this spicy crackling potatoes yummy Masala aloo.


Preparation time :  15 minutes 
Cooking time : 20 minutes 
Serves :  4 

Ingredients : 
10 to 12 baby potatoes per boiled 
1tsp dhuli urad dal
6 to 8 cloves garlic chopped
10 to 12 fresh curry leaves 
1 tbsp dry roasted sesame seed
3 to 4 tbsp dry roasted peanut  half crushed
4 to 5 tbsp oil 
salt to taste

For Dry Roasted Masala
1/2 tsp white sesame seed
1 tsp whole cumin
1 tsp whole coriander seed
2 whole red chilly or to taste

Methods  of Cooking :
First dry roast the whole masala ingredients and then put them in a blender. Make a coarse powder. Keep aside. Heat oil in a pan. Now add urad dal. Fry till the urad dal is little golden. Then add chopped garlic and curry leaves. Fry a little. Then add per boiled potatoes. Fry till the potatoes are little golden and cooked.Then add the coarse masala. Fry well with the potatoes then add roasted half crushed peanut and sesame seed. Add salt and mix well. Your yummy delicious spicy potato is ready to cherish with naan , poori, roti or paratha. Enjoy masala aloo.

Today I used that concept of Bengali posto but to it add some ingredients to give it a royal touch. The dish looks very rich but it is not that heavy and not loaded with too much of calories but a simple fast to cook easy delicious dish.
