Spicy Grilled Baby Sea Pikes with Mixed Vegetable Egg Fried Rice


Baby sea pikes are very delicious fish it is called kaiyka in Bengali, Neduva and chilavu in Malaylam, ooli and cheela in Tamil, Kanaki in Kannad and Jellow in Telegu, Jaban tal in Marathi. Hope now will have no problem finding the fish.Today I am sharing with you all two very delicious mouth watering recipes back to back and I hope February being the month of love all you will definitely enjoy this combo of spicy grilled baby sea pike with mixed vegetable egg fried rice with your loved ones.

For Spicy Grilled Baby Sea Pikes

Preparation time : 1 hour
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients: 
12 baby sea pikes head off 
1 tbsp ginger paste
1 tbsp garlic paste
1 tsp red chilly powder or to tatse
¼ tsp garam masala powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
2 lemon juice
 salt to taste
2 to 3 tbsp oil


Methods of Cooking: 
Marinate the baby sea pikes with salt, turmeric powder and juice of one lemon for 10 minutes. Now in a bowl mix ginger garlic paste, garam masala powder, chilly powder and salt and juice of another lemon. Now take the fish out from the first marinade and then wrap the fish in second marinade leave the marinated fish for an hour. Now take a pan grill and brush oil and then grill the fish till done.

Mixed Vegetable Egg Fried Rice
Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time : 20 minutes
Serves : 4

Ingredients:
500 grm long grain basmati rice
1 cup mixed vegetables( I use broccoli, beet and carrots)
5 egg 
1 tsp ginger finely chopped 
1 tsp onion finely chopped 
1 green chilly finely chopped (optional)
1 tsp sugar (optional)
handful of cashew
3 tbsp oil/ butter
salt and pepper to taste 

 
Methods of Cooking 
Cook the rice and spread it in a flat utensil so that grains remain fluffy and separated. In a bowl whisk the eggs with onion and ginger and little salt and pepper. Now add 1 tsp of oil in a pan and then pour the egg mixture in it. Let the eggs cook for up to a minute or until the bottom starts to set, gently push one edge of the egg into the center of the pan, while tilting the pan to allow the still liquid egg to flow in underneath. Repeat with the other edges, until there's no liquid left.Turn off the heat and continue gently stirring and turning the egg until all the uncooked parts become firm. Keep aside. Again heat butter or oil whatever you prefer to use in a pan. Add the vegetable with little salt and pepper. Then fry a bit till they are little soft but retain it’s crunches. Now add the scramble egg and fried cashew and the cooked rice. Mix everything with soft hand adjust seasoning and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Put off the flame serve hot mixed vegetable egg fried rice with spicy grilled baby sea pikes. Enjoy a simple yet elegant lunch with your loved ones.
