Channar Jeelapi/ Channar Jalebi / Panner Jalebi


Diwali is coming and to make it more sweet and memorable I am sharing with you all an authentic Bengali delicious sweet recipe Channar Jeelapi / Indian cottage cheese jalebi. The shape looks bit difficult but it is very easy to make and less expertise is needed than to make ordinary jalebi. It is very soft delicious sweet . I shared a very old traditional family secret recipe from a Granny. Give it a try and let me know how you like it.


Preparation time : 1 hour 15 minutes
Cooking time  2 to 3 hour 
Serves  4 to 6

Ingredients :
500 grm  Indian cottage cheese/ chena 
150 grm  suji / semolina 
150 grm maida / flour
500 grm sugar 
½  cup hot milk 
200 grm  khoya / milk solid 
½ tsp baking powder
Ghee  to fry 

Methods of Cooking

Take one cup of hot milk and soak the suji for an hour. Mix flour with the baking powder 1 tbsp ghee. Mix well. Now take chena crumble and knead well . Now add maida mixture and suji mixture and khoya with it. Knead well to make a soft dough. Meanwhile make two string syrup. Now take a portion of the chena mixture roll it like thick rope. Make a U-shape with the rope, holding the ends of the rope twist each other and press onto the bottom of the U in order to form the shape. Heat ghee and fry each panner jalebi till golden brown in medium flame. Place them on warm syrup for 2 to 3 hours . Then take it from syrup and serve.
