Grapes Raita


Raita or rayta is a popular condiment in Indian, Pakistan and Bangladesh . Raita is made of yogurt or dahi and I used as sauce or dip. The yogurt may be seasoned with various spices like cumin, cayenne pepper and other herbs an spices. The word raita is derived from Sanskrit word rajika meaning black mustard and tiktaka, meaning sharp or pungent. In South India, especially Kerala and Tamilnadu the traditional raita is called pachadi. Raita is made with different kind of vegetable like potato, carrot, cucumber etc and also with pulses and fruits. Raita is served as a side dish to be eaten with different main course dishes.Today I choose grapes to make a delicious grapes raita.


Preparation time  15 minutes
Cooking time  5 minutes
Serves  4 to 5 

Ingredients
200 grms  chilled yogurt
10 to 15 juicy ripe sweet grapes
½  tbsp  finely chopped ginger
¼ tsp  or to taste red chili powder
 2 to 3 pinch kashmiri red chilly powder
¼  tsp roasted jeera/ cumin powder
1 tsp  sugar ( optional )
¼ tsp black salt 
 2 pinch garam masala powder
½ tsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp chopped  fresh coriander 
Salt to taste

Methods of  Cooking
First in a small pan heat ½ tsp of oil and fry the chopped the ginger and keep aside. Now take a yogurt in a bowl. Add red chilly powder, cumin powder, sugar, black salt, salt. Whisk until it is smooth and lightened. Now add the fried chopped ginger. Mix well. Add the juicy grapes . Mix well. Take a serving bowl pour the raita. Garnish with kashmiri red chilly powder, garam masala powder and chopped coriander. Serve chilled . You can have it with jeera rice, pulao, biriyani and also with butter naan and with chicken, mutton or paneer dishes.
